Local Marijuana Dispensaries Opening

In November of 2018, Missouri residents approved a ballot measure - with 66% of the vote - to legalize the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes. This law will be coming into action in 2020 with medicinal marijuana dispensaries opening up across the state. The law limits the number of dispensaries and farms allowed in the state. Only 192 dispensaries have been issued licenses as of January 2020. This number is expected to increase, but as for now there will be a limited number of dispensaries across the state. This limited number is also in part due to the cost of applying for a permit. A medical marijuana permit application totals around $16,000. This is a big splurge for businesses, especially considering that their permit application could be denied.

Despite all of this, a medical Marijuana dispensary will be opening up in Rolla, MO. Only 24 applicants in each of Missouri’s 8 districts received a permit. Based on the state’s goal of having one dispensary per 20,000 population, the city had expected in late 2019 to see two or three dispensaries throughout Rolla. There will also be a dispensary opening up in St. James, MO. St. James is only a fourteen minute drive from Rolla, giving the Rolla, St. James, and the surrounding population a couple of locations at which to buy medical marijuana.

Colorful Vibes is the name of the newly permitted local Medical Marijuana Dispensary in Rolla. Located at 1421 Forum Drive, Colorful Vibes is locally owned and operated. They sell clothing, jewelry, gifts, snacks, CBD, smoking accessories, and soon marijuana. They also get rave reviews online for their friendly staff, great customer service, and reasonable prices.

On February 22 Colorful Vibes hosted a medical marijuana certification event. During this event Colorful Vibes assisted people in applying for medical marijuana cards. They charged only $50 per person for this event and they also assisted people in uploading all of their relevant documents to the state. To apply for a medical marijuana card you must present medical documentation and your Missouri ID.

To receive a medicinal marijuana card you must be a Missouri resident 18 years of age or older and you must have one of the following conditions: depression, PTSD, chronic pain, cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, intractable migraines, debilitating psychiatric disorders, a chronic medical condition, human immunodeficiency virus or acquired immune deficiency syndrome, a chronic medical condition that is normally treated with a prescription medication that could lead to physical or psychological dependence, any terminal illness, or in the professional judgment of a physician, any other chronic, debilitating or other medical condition, including, but not limited to, hepatitis C, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, Huntington’s disease, autism, neuropathies, sickle cell anemia, agitation of Alzheimer’s disease, cachexia and wasting syndrome.

These costs will not be covered by insurance due to marijuana being illegal at the federal level. If the application is approved, you will have your card within 30 days. These cards will be eligible for a year after their issuance date at which time the card will need to be renewed.
